It’s an anomaly, but this year, Mukilteo’s political race is full to overflowing with candidates. Although the mayoral race has just two candidates, (currently seated) Jennifer Gregerson, and challenger Dan Matthews, it is the three Council seats, with their 10 candidates that has locals asking, “who is this?” and “what position has four contenders?!”
As a rule, the Mukilteo Chamber holds a Candidate Forum in October just prior to the November election, and they will be doing just that, at Rosehill Community Center. But because of the number of candidates for Council seats, a July 24 (630-830p) forum has been set at City Hall, so the community can find out what each candidate’s stance may be on several key issues, ranging from air traffic, city streets, sales tax, parks and much more.
It’s important to educate the public before they make a vote, and the Primary is scheduled for August 8th. Plan on attending the forum if you can.
