Tracey Curtis-Taylor’s solo journey around the world in a restored 1942 Boeing Stearman includes #HistoricFlightFoundation at #PaineField.
Following the same route as aviator Amy Johnson, the first woman to fly solo from Great Britain to Australia in 1930, Curtis-Taylor flew her vintage, open-cockpit biplane “The Spirit of Artemis” from Goodwood, UK to Sydney Airport. After a 13,000 mile, three month journey, her plane was disassembled and shipped to America.
After re-assembly, test flights will follow and then the Spirit of Artemis will be on display through the end of April. Then Tracey Curtis-Taylor will continue her journey, leaving from Seattle and heading toward Boston. On April 28, an evening social is scheduled at the Historic Flight Foundation to give Curtis-Taylor a send off.
