Breakfast meetings are held the third Thursday of each month at The Staybridge Suites from 7:30 – 9:00 am. We have special guest speakers at each breakfast.
This month’s speaker is Jim Shapiro
Jim Shapiro is the fundraising coach you always wanted, the proven Sherpa who can help you get to the top of the mountain. He has 20 years experience raising money, including serving as the VP of Development for a $100m nonprofit. He then co-founded The Better Fundraising Co. to help small-to-medium nonprofits raise more money. Jim is married, serves his community by coaching high school football, is actively involved in foster care and has three children.
Coach Shap has coached at King’s since 1994 (his first three years were as an assistant under Head Coach Russ Roberts). 2019 represents Coach Shap’s 23rd season as the head coach of the Knights and his 26th year with the program. Over the years the team has appeared in the state quarter-finals eight times and the state championship once. Coach Shap has been voted Coach of the Year by the league in 1999, 2002, 2008, 2012, and 2015 – he also coached the East/West All Star “West Team” in 2002. In 2012 Coach Shapiro was named Washington State Coach of the Year and National Football Foundation Coach of the year. Shapiro is a graduate of King’s where he was state champion in the 100 and 400 meter dash and the later attended Azusa Pacific University and graduating from Pacific Lutheran University where in 1993 the football team won the NAIA Division II National Championship. Shapiro is a member of the PLU athletic hall of fame.
