Discover what it takes to be a successful fashion designer in this introductory course. Students will learn how fashion designers communicate visually by means of color, fabric, texture and pattern. The class will discuss design elements, styles, trends and couture as students explore sketching, pattern drafting, fabric, color choices and basic sewing. Creative projects include designing and making your own skirt,accessories, costume, pattern making, jewelry, shoes , and stylize their creations for the fashion show on the last day of camp. This is a great chance for students not only to learn the basics of designing their wardrobes, but to make a substantial addition to their portfolios. Note: Previous drawing experience is not required. Be sure to bring a pair of canvas shoes to decorate and paint. Ages 8-18; $250 registration fee. Camp is August 17-21
