The Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee serves as the advocate for Chamber members in its mission to create a business-friendly environment in Mukilteo and the State of Washington.
The committee works with the Mukilteo City Council and with state and federal legislators to formulate policies that are helpful to business and to discourage harmful tax and business regulations. The committee seeks to work in partnership with the City of Mukilteo to create an environment that is favorable to business, encourages business growth and attracts new businesses to the city.
The committee sponsors candidate forums at election time and may endorse specific candidates. It also makes recommendations on issues.Last year, the Chamber adopted a position officially opposing scheduled airline service at Paine Field. The committee continues to study local issues, such as the planned redevelopment of the city’s waterfront, and may take additional positions in the future.
