Whether you call it Independence Day or July 4th, this holiday has been a federal holiday in the United States since 1941, but the tradition of celebrations goes back to the 18th century and the American Revolution. On July 2nd the Continental Congress voted in favor of Independence and two days later the Declaration of Independence was adopted.
All around our area there will be family gatherings, parades, concerts and fireworks. Have fun, enjoy your weekend, and be safe.
