Our community has a critical issue up for vote on February 9. If you are a registered voter, you’ve received your ballot in the mail already. If you are a parent, you already know the significance of voting for the improvements and upgrades that are vital to any school district. If you do not have children, but live in the area, the topic is of equal importance. A successful, vital school district shows a healthy, active community that places value not only on its children, but on its future.
No one will argue the value that education plays in our community. The Mukilteo School District once again asking voters to “say YES” to the upcoming levy. Just to be clear, this is not a new levy per se. The existing levy is coming to a close and when that happens, a community needs to either vote “yes” for a new levy or the levy goes away. Home owners are currently paying for the levy through taxes and according to school officials, the cost will remain the same or even go down. Levies pay for capital projects like improving playgrounds, updating security systems and so forth.
Let your voice be heard, vote your conscious in February. The Chamber of Commerce urges you to exercise your right to vote.
